17-Year-Old Pleads Guilty to Fatal Shooting of Keyon Day

A 17-year-old from Springfield has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for fatally shooting Southeast High School student Keyon Day in April 2024.

Dremone Patterson was sentenced to 30 years in prison during Thanksgiving week on the negotiated plea.

Patterson also pleaded guilty to possession of a stolen vehicle. He must serve 100 percent of the sentence.

The only other person charged in the case, Cordae Curb, was 15 at the time but was charged as an adult.

The next court hearing for Curb is scheduled for Thursday morning.
