Trey Songz was charged with assault for allegedly punching a nightclub employee at Dramma Night Club in Times Square on December 4, and was also charged with second-degree mischief for causing about $1,500 in damage at Mira restaurant and hookah lounge during an unrelated incident a week later. Manhattan prosecutors allege the 41-year-old R&B singer, whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, became “needlessly irate” after being told the nightclub was closing, while his lawyer claims Trey was provoked and acted in self-defense during the restaurant altercation. Trey was arraigned and released on his own recognizance, with the nightclub employee granted an order of protection due to the singer’s frequent visits. His lawyer states that Trey is “cooperating fully” and that he “looks forward to the facts coming to light,” while also saying his client is being targeted by accusers who are “in pursuit of headlines or financial gain.” (Rolling Stone)
