Unemployment in the Springfield area rose four-tenths of a percentage point to 4.3 percent in September according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The number of nonfarm payrolls locally rose about 18-hundred year-to-year to 112,000.
