The Massey Commission got word on Thursday that the Sangamon County Board has approved a binding referendum for the March 2026 Primary Election, that asks voters to establish and fund a countywide Mental Health Board.
The Mental Health Board was an early, foundational priority named by the Massey Commission’s work and recommendations.
If approved by voters, the referendum would authorize the County to increase its share of local sales taxes by one-half percent, which the resolution notes would equal an additional $0.50 in sales tax for every $100 in retail purchases.
