Illinois State Police are reviewing a shooting of a person by a Springfield Police officer Saturday evening on the city’s north side.
Springfield Police requested the review after the incident in the 2400 block of Neil Road after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Illinois State Police said four people exited a vehicle with firearms during a traffic stop.
One of the persons was struck by gunfire and is in serious but stable condition according to ISP.
Springfield Police Chief Joe Behl told the State Journal-Register that one officer is on paid administrative leave during the review and another officer is on light duty after being injured in the incident.
