A man in Illinois State Police custody following a vehicle chase in McLean and Logan counties last month died from drug intoxication and cardiovascular disease according to Logan County Coroner Donald Peasley.
Police said 66-year-old Richard Saunders of Guttenberg, Iowa had a medical emergency shortly after he was taken into custody along Route 54 in Logan County on December 22nd.
Saunders was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Lincoln Memorial Hospital. An investigation continues
