The president of the Central Illinois District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod has been charged with producing child pornography.
The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri reported 54-year-old Michael Mohr of Springfield was arrested on Wednesday and appeared in U.S. District Court in St. Louis on Thursday.
Federal prosecutors said a search of Mohr’s home in Springfield found videos of three juveniles, and a search of a residence Mohr used in Vandalia uncovered hidden cameras disguised as a wall clock and a Bluetooth speaker.
Prosecutors said the investigation began when a juvenile discovered a camera disguised as a device charger in a hotel bathroom.
Mohr waived his right to a detention hearing and remains in custody.
