Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed on Friday that an 82-year-old Decatur man died in a car accident near the intersection of East Eldorado and North 24th street in Decatur Thursday.
Allmon says the man was transported via EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital where he died as an inpatient at 9:46pm.
The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Decatur Police Department.
