Two Springfield women have been arrested on animal cruelty charges.
Springfield police were called to the 900 block of Phillips Avenue on July 8th to investigate animal abuse charges.
With the assistance of Animal Control authorities found Two dogs – emaciated and severely malnourished, Five cats – severely ill and malnourished, Six dead cats – improperly disposed of in a cooler.
Lori New, 58, and Freda Ferguson, 51 were then taken in to custody and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, cruel treatment – animal owner duties, and improper disposal of dead animals.
