Meet Our Latest Friend
The Morning Routine with Rocki and Lacey was joined by Justin Yuroff from Senior Services of Central Illinois, who also is the Director of Illinois Senior Games. Justin shared with us how he ended up caring for seniors, beginning with volunteering to help teach a fitness class with Senior Services of Central Illinois.
We also spoke about the 2024 program, Foster a grandparent, where seniors are paired up with District 186 students, and the grandparents are able to provide some mentorship and tutorship for the students and the Seniors are able to give back.
Senior Services of Central Illinois, The Springfield Park District, and The Illinois Senior Games Advisory Board invite all Men and Women 50 years of age and over to come and participate in this wonderful senior athletic event. The Illinois Senior Games also includes over 20 event categories and team sports offered, including Wii Bowling, power lifting, and triathlons. 2026 is a qualifying year for the 2027 National Senior Games in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Senior Services of Central Illinois (SSCI) is a not-for-profit organization supporting and serving seniors with non-medical services to promote independent living and enrich quality of life.
For over 50 years, Senior Services of Central Illinois has supported seniors living independently. Through offerings to support basic needs, encourage healthy living and enriching lives with socialization, helps with transport to doctors appointments, feeding senior through the bread delivery program, the agency offers the convenience of meeting multiple needs in one agency. The work of Senior Services is important to the community and often crucial to the individuals it supports and serves.
