The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office has released video of a September 24 vehicle-pedestrian accident involving an off-duty lieutenant with the department.
Lieutenant Andrew Henton was turning from 9th Street onto Monroe Street when his vehicle struck the pedestrian.
Video showed Henton was not using a phone or computer at the time, and he immediately stopped to check on the pedestrian and call emergency services.
Springfield Police ticketed Henton for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The sheriff’s office said Springfield Police reported the pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
