The Illinois Department of Public Health has confirmed an outbreak of measles in eastern Illinois.
IDPH reported at least four cases of measles in Douglas County.
Nearly 3,000 cases have been reported in the United States this year.
Measles is highly contagious and caused by a virus.
IDPH says measles was declared eliminated in the U.S. In 2000, but the number of cases increased as national immunization rates dropped.
