A pilot low-interest loan program has been established in Illinois to help farmers build on-site grain storage facilities.
Governor JB Pritzker announced the program on Wednesday during a visit to a farm near Gardner in Grundy County.
The Illinois Finance Authority program will provide part of the capital for private sector loans with an anticipated interest rate of 2 percent.
On-site storage gives farmers more control over when their grain is delivered to market and reduces costs to transport and hold grain.
