Area health care providers say flu season is starting early in many parts of the country and now is a good time to schedule a flu shot before the virus spreads locally.
Memorial Health Chief Clinical Officer Dr. Ted Clark said getting a flu shot early give the body time to build protection since it takes about two weeks to develop antibodies following vaccination.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual flu vaccinations for most people six months and older.
