Yesterday, we announced that Zach Bryan’s new single “Pink Skies” was being promoted on pop radio. Well, apparently that is news to Zach, who had some choice words to say on Twitter.
He said, “This is [effed], I never approved this . . . Why is ‘Pink Skies’ at pop radio?”
Do we really believe that he had no idea that this was going to happen? It seems odd if someone on his team hid this from him. Because his duet “I Remember Everything” with Kacey Musgraves already beat out a bunch of pop songs when it topped the HOT 100. So why is he surprised?
He tweeted later in all caps, “PINK SKIES IS NOT A POP SONG.”
And to make things even more confusing, in a tweet that was later deleted, he said, “I’m not an [effing] pop artist, or a country artist . . . leave me out of it.”
It seems like a foregone conclusion that his songs will have crossover success on the pop charts . . . with some saying he occupies the same space as Noah Kahan, or The Lumineers. But according to him, “Pink Skies” is NOT pop.
