Surprisingly the fans top votes which included Dave Matthew Band as number one did not make it in. Some are upset that non rock artist beat out some very influential rock groups. It is believed that the criteria to be nominated is that the artist has influenced and given significance contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and rock. You can also also do that without all your music being classified in the rock genre. While all there these artist have significantly left their footprint on music, maybe this honor needs a new name?
