MTV announced on Thursday (August 22) that rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion will preside as host of the 2024 Video Music Awards ceremony. This will be Meg’s first time hosting the VMAs, following her recent turns hosting Saturday Night Live and co-hosting The Tonight Show. In addition to her hosting duties, Megan is up for five VMAs this year as well, the most for any hip-hop artist. She’s nominated for best collaboration for “Wanna Be,” a joint track with her Hot Girl Summer tourmate, Glo-Rilla, who is also set to perform at this year’s awards ceremony. The video for Megan’s third single, “Boa,” is up for four awards, getting nods for Best Hip-Hop, Best Direction, Best Visual Effects, and Best Art Direction. Megan Thee Stallion takes over hosting duties from Nicki Minaj, who previously hosted the VMAs in both 2022 and 2023. The 2024 MTV VMA’s are set to air live on Wednesday, September 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from New York’s UBS Arena. (People)
