Animal rights activist Joan Jett has again partnered with PETA for a new advertisement that asks supporters of women’s rights to consider fighting for the reproductive rights of female animals. The commercial premiered during Monday night’s (October 21) episode of The Rachel Maddow Show, and it features the face of the legendary musician transposed on a variety of animals. “We are daughters, sisters, and mothers,” Jett says in the spot. “We all feel pain and fear and love, and if any of us were forcibly bred or had our breast milk or eggs taken and sold, or our children stolen from us to be experimented on, we’d all feel violated and angry and heartbroken. Ask yourself: Would I wish this fate on my mother or my sister or me? We are all sisters under the skin. End speciesism.” (Consequence of Sound)
