Donald Trump’s election victory has already been good for one business. It’s called Bluesky, and it’s basically Twitter . . . or X, if you will . . . but supposedly without the toxicity. Or the link to Elon Musk.
Since the election, millions of people have either left Twitter for Bluesky, or at least opened Bluesky accounts and pledged to do most of their social media business there.
Journalists and media outlets in particular have been flocking to Bluesky. Celebrities, too, including Lizzo, Barbra Streisand, Quinta Brunson, James Gunn, John Cusack, Guillermo del Toro, Ben Stiller, Flavor Flav, Patton Oswalt, Weird Al Yankovic, and tons more.
As of just a few days ago, Bluesky had 16.7 million users, and was gaining about a million a day. But it has a long way to go if it wants to catch up to Twitter’s 300 million monthly active users.
Even Threads, part of Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta, has 250 million.
