City man sentenced on animal torture, cruelty charges

A Springfield man who pleaded guilty to charges of animal torture and aggravated cruelty to an animal on March 13 was sentenced in a Sangamon County Court Wednesday.Jeffrey R. Seals, 25, of the 1500 block of East Keys Avenue, was sentenced to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Circuit Judge Adam Giganti.On April 25, Springfield police officers were summoned to Seals’ home.
