NICK CANNON is under fire for some controversial comments he made on a recent episode of his YouTube talk show, “Cannon’s Class”.
Nick was talking with former PUBLIC ENEMY member PROFESSOR GRIFF, who was fired from the group for making anti-Semitic statements in 1989. Among other things, Griff had said, quote, “Jews are responsible for the majority of wickedness around the world.”
During the talk, Nick said things like, quote, “The Semitic people are Black people. You can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people. When we are the same people they want to be. That’s our birthright.”
He also said Black people were “the true Hebrews,” and promoted several anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.
Nick said that the power of melanin or color in people’s skin . . . or the lack of it . . . has made white people, quote, “a little less” than darker-skinned people, and he claimed this deficiency leads to fear.
He was talking about the very first white people in modern-day Europe, but he also went on to say white people’s fear made them lack compassion and become evil.
He referred to these ancient white people as “savages,” “barbaric,” and added, quote, “They’re the ones that are actually closer to animals, they’re the ones that are actually the true savages.”
Which has some people calling Nick a “black supremacist.”
Throughout the conversation, Nick talked about how people call this anti-Semitism and it isn’t . . . and he also said people need to be UNITED not divided. So, clearly, he’s aware that this is charged territory.
Nick tried to explain himself on Facebook. He said “uncomfortable conversations” should be embraced, and, quote, “I do not condone hate speech nor the spread of hateful rhetoric.”
ViacomCBS wasn’t impressed. Yesterday, they fired Nick from his gigs on their networks, including MTV and Nickelodeon. They said, quote, “While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we’re deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism.”
Nick also hosts “The Masked Singer” on Fox. They haven’t commented.
