Immigration agents carrying out the Trump administration’s ongoing “Operation Midway Blitz” campaign will remain under a federal judge’s order restricting their use of force.
Capitol News Illinois reports U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis issued an injunction on Thursday in a case brought by protesters, journalists and clergy hit with tear gas and pepper balls outside a Chicago-area federal immigration facility earlier this fall.
The judge’s ruling indefinitely extends her earlier temporary restraining order prohibiting agents from using riot control weapons without adequate justification or warning.
But the feds have already violated that order a number of times in the last four weeks. After hours of testimony about those incidents on Wednesday, the judge said the government’s version of events was — quote — “not credible.”
