AB-Mill Water Tower Removed from Pillsbury Mills Site

By Mike Wennmacher Nov 26, 2025 | 5:16 AM

The AB-Mill Water Tower at the Pillsbury Mills site has been dismantled.

The tower, which stood 210 feet above street level, was integral to the flour milling process and fire sprinkler system.

Workers safely rolled the tower over the edge after cutting its legs and dropping it on the roof.

Moving Pillsbury Forward plans to salvage the top ball of the water tower as a memorial to Springfield’s manufacturing history.

Demolition of the remaining structures, including the Headhouse and Silos, will continue through March 2026.
