Kelly Clarkson has joined Spotify’s Billions Club as her 2004 hit, “Since U Been Gone,” officially surpassed 1 billion streams, marking her first song to reach this milestone on the platform. The Grammy-winning pop-rock anthem, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2005, was produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke and earned multiple MTV Video Music Awards. Clarkson has reflected positively on the song’s impact and its memorable, destructive music video shoot. “I love what the song does for people,” Clarkson said of the track in a 2020 interview with Apple Music, adding that her “favorite memory was the fact that I got to show up to a video shoot and completely trash an apartment. That video was possibly one of my favorite videos ever to make.” While “Since U Been Gone” is her only current billion-stream track, other hits like “Underneath the Tree,” “Because of You,” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” also boast impressive streaming numbers exceeding 800 million.
