The chief engineer of Springfield public utility City Water, Light and Power has announced he will retire on March 31st to become the president and CEO of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency.
Doug Brown has been with the City of Springfield for 31 years, including 11 years overseeing CWLP. Brown oversaw the retirement of three coal-fired power plants and was involved in negotiating a lower-priced coal contract, improving electric and water bonds and adding two long-term solar contracts.
He will oversee IMEA, which is a nonprofit agency that provides wholesale energy to municipally-owned power systems.
