Secretary of State Office Highlights Some of the Denied License Plates

The Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and his office have posted their annual video highlighting some of the more inventive license plates that were rejected by the state.

Overall the Secretary of State’s office received 55,690 vanity and personalized plate requests this year.

More than 550 were denied because the combinations were deemed inflammatory, profane, offensive or too difficult to read – all grounds for rejection under state law.

The office continues to maintain an ever-growing rejection list, which now contains more than 8,558 combinations.
