The Holidays Aren’t Quite Over Yet on The Weekender for friday, January 2, 2026

There are still Happy New Year celebrations to be had this weekend.

New Year’s Dance Party
7pm – 9pm Friday at Erin’s Pavilion.  This free event is open for all ages and abilities.  Snacks and drinks provided, semi-formal attire encouraged.

Winter Old Capitol Farmers Market
Saturday 8am – Noon at Union Station in downtown Springfield.  Admissions is free.

Freeze Fest
Friday and Saturday at the Illinois State Museum 10am – 3pm.  This free event is a celebration of all things frosty.  Launch snowballs, test a blubber glove in icy water, explore the northern lights, and warm up with hot chocolate.

Illinois Governor’s Mansion Holiday Tours
Saturday and Sunday at the Governor’s Mansion, 410 East Jackson St.  See the beautiful holiday decorations at the mansion.  It’s free, but you do need to register.

Sunday at 1pm and 3pm at the Hoogland Center for the Arts.  Step inside Andy’s room for Toy Story – a contemporary retelling of the beloved Pixar adventure through dance.
