Menard County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Macoupin County residents after a vehicle pursuit near Petersburg early Tuesday ended with a crash and a water rescue.

The Menard County sheriff’s office said a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Route 123 near Tice Road for a revoked registration shortly after midnight.

Deputies said the vehicle traveled on various highways and through fields, crashing in timber along Jellystone Avenue.

A drone and a K-9 unit located 36-year-old Annyssa Myers of Virden. About two hours later, deputies pulled 47-year-old Caleb Prose of Girard from a nearby pond and performed life-saving measures on him before he was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Prose’s condition was not released. The sheriff’s office said Prose is wanted on warrants from several counties in Illinois and Georgia and was considered armed and dangerous.
