Area residents are bundling up after digging out from weekend snow.
The National Weather Service reports 4 to 6 inches of snow fell during the weekend on the local area, with reports of 8 to 9 inches south of a line from Taylorville to Carlinville.
The heaviest snowfall was generally between Interstates 70 and 64 in southeast Illinois and southwest Indiana where reports of up to 14 inches were received.
The National Weather Service says an extreme cold warning continues through midday and a cold weather advisory is in effect from 6 pm tonight to 6 am tomorrow with wind chills as low at 18 below.
