A 66-year-old man is dead after fire heavily damaged a residence in Jacksonville on Thursday evening.
Morgan County Coroner Marcy Patterson pronounced the man dead at the residence.
The coroner said he was the only occupant.
His name has not yet been released.
Jacksonville Police and firefighters were called to the Walnut Street residence at about 6 p.m. The Illinois Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
