As Springfield city officials develop the fiscal year 2027 budget, Mayor Misty Buscher says managing the city’s finances is a year-round task.
Buscher told Sam Madonia on AM Springfield that she and Office of Budget and Management Director Ramona Metzger meet every three weeks to review the city’s books:
The corporate fund request is 201 million dollars, up about 15 million from the current fiscal year. Buscher said she wants to see if the city can withstand the 5-million-dollar loss due to the elimination of the state’s grocery tax:
The city council will consider the budget this month ahead of the new fiscal year which begins March 1st.
