Leland Grove Police Chief Dan Ryan has been placed on administrative leave after his arrest early Thursday on initial charges of domestic battery and driving under the influence.
According to Illinois State Police, Ryan’s girlfriend said he pushed her onto a couch and pulled her hair, then damaged property inside the residence they shared in the 1000 block of West Elliott Avenue in Springfield.
Ryan was later arrested during a traffic stop at Second and Madison streets.
The 53-year-old Ryan has been with Leland Grove Police since 1998. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 11.
