Springfield City Council members moved to hold a special meeting to discuss the city’s stance on state legislation to create a tourism authority in the downtown area.
Ward 3 Alderman Roy Williams Jr. previously attempted to bring forward an emergency resolution regarding the city’s position on the state legislation, but it was defeated by a tiebreaker from the mayor.
A frustrated Williams urged members of the public to share their opinions on the tourism authority at the meeting, which he intended to be held prior to next week’s Committee of the Whole meeting.
