Springfield Police have released the crime statistics for the first quarter of 2026 and the numbers look positive.
According to the report released earlier this week from January to March of 2026, overall crime statistics decreased by 6.82%. Property crimes decreased by 15% and so did the number of shooting victims.
In the first 4 months of 2025 the city had 13 confirmed gunshot victims, this year thus far there have only been 3 confirmed gunshot victims.
Additionally, year to date vs. 2025, homicides are down by 60%.
