A bill restricting where the federal government can put ICE detention centers has been approved by the Illinois Senate Executive Committee.
The bill states detention and processing facilities cannot be located within 1,500 feet of any home, apartment complex, school, daycare center, public park, or church.
This bill previously made it through the house on a 72-35 vote. The bill now moves to the Senate floor for further consideration.
