A 20-year Springfield Police veteran has been named the department’s deputy chief of field operations.
Grant Barksdale will oversee the department’s patrol operations and will work on public safety initiatives, officer development and community engagement.
Barksdale replaces Joshua Stuenkel, who retired from the department last month to become the coordinator of safety and security for Springfield School District 186.
