A Sangamon County judge has denied a motion to reconsider or reduce the 20-year prison sentence for former sheriff’s deputy Sean Grayson for the fatal shooting of Sonya Massey in 2024.
Defense attorney Mark Wykoff said during Friday’s brief hearing that he plans to file an appeal with the Fourth District Appellate Court. A Peoria County jury convicted Grayson of second-degree murder in October.
Judge Ryan Cadagin sentenced Grayson to the maximum 20 years in prison in January.
