This weekend the Sangamon County Sheriff’s office will be stepping up their enforcement efforts to curb impaired and unbuckled drivers during the 4th of July holiday.
The campaign will run from June 19th through July 6th.
The sheriff’s office is joining the Illinois State Police and more than 200 local law enforcement agencies participating in the statewide enforcement effort.
Officials are also reminding drivers and passengers to wear seat belts and to report suspected impaired drivers by safely pulling over and calling 911.
