Testimony began on Tuesday in the Logan County murder trial of Cierra Coker.
The 24-year-old Lincoln woman is accused of killing her boyfriend’s daughter, 19-month-old Sophia Davis, in 2022.
Prosecutors said Coker beat the toddler to death after the girl bit Coker’s finger.
Defense attorneys said the jury will hear two different opinions on how the girl died. The first trial last August ended with a hung jury.
