The Springfield Police Department with the help of some additional officers were able to make 8 firearms related arrests in a 7 hour period from July 25th to July 26th.
The arrests led to 9 firearms being taken off the street.
All 8 of the individuals who were arrested were from somewhere other than Springfield. Cities represented by those arrested include, Peoria, Jacksonville, Decatur, Lansing, and Florence Illinois.
Some of the charges related to these arrests include unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, armed violence, armed habitual criminal and unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
