The hottest weather of the summer arrives in the season’s final month.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for central Illinois until Thursday evening.
Heat index values will rise to 105 degrees during the next several days. Little relief is expected at night with temperatures falling to only the mid-to-upper 70s.
Highs will continue to peak above 90 degrees through Labor Day before falling to the 80s next week.
