The Springfield City Council during Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting discussed a resolution supporting a project to convert the rail corridor vacated by the Springfield Rail Improvement Project into a pedestrian greenway.
Developers are hoping to begin work on the Linc Project on the northernmost section of the railway connecting the outskirts of the Illinois State Fairgrounds with the Lincoln Park area.
A preliminary study for the project is expected in December. A previous timeline for the Linc indicated it could be completed by 2032.
