Springfield Police added 12 officers to the force with a swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday afternoon.
The department said 11 of the officers graduated in August from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center. One officer is a lateral hire from another department.
All 12 new officers are going through additional department-specific training at the Springfield Police Academy before beginning field training with veteran officers.
The new officers are Tayor Barlow, Sean Coffey, Mackenzie Durst, Zachary Frazho, Connor Goett, Dalton Gunterman, Cole Maddox, Kohl McAfee, Matthew Newquist, Yaakema Rose Jr., Michael Smothers and Reese Woodrum.
