A Springfield woman who sued the City of Springfield and two police officers, alleging she was wrongfully detained has been awarded $2 million dollars by a jury.
Ann Marie Reeves filed the lawsuit in May of 2023 after being arrested and detained in October of 2022. All charges against Reeves were dismissed.
Reeves’ trial against the City and the officers began September 21st and lasted two days. The jurors then awarded Reeves $1,500,000 in compensatory damages. Reeves was also awarded $5,000 in punitive damages from one of the officers and $500,000 from the City of Springfield.
