Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed that Darren Polk, 62 of Springfield died in the HSHS St. John’s Emergency room after being transported there by EMS.
Polk had been involved in a motor vehicle crash near the intersection of South 5th St. and East Laurel St on the morning of September 27th.
An autopsy done Monday showed Mr. Polk died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
