UltimateClassicRock.com put together the “Big 4” of one-hit wonders from the ’70s. Here they are:
1. “Magic”, Pilot: It came out on the band’s debut album in 1974. The band broke up after their fourth album in 1977, and reunited in 2002. Try not to get the Ozempic jingle stuck in your head!
2. “Play That Funky Music”, Wild Cherry: It came out in 1976. They were a hard rock cover band, but started to play disco to get the girls.
3. “Black Betty”, Ram Jam: It came out in 1977. It’s an old Lead Belly song, but frontman Bill Bartlett added new lyrics, and claimed his version was about ’50s pinup queen Bettie Page.
4. “Stuck in the Middle with You”, Stealers Wheel. They released it on their debut self-titled album in 1972. Singer Gerry Rafferty left the band to go solo by the time the album came out.
