Springfield city officials said an investigation into the explosion at a garage of a 12th Street residence is complete, and the next steps are being taken for cleanup and possible legal action.
City attorney Greg Moredock told the city council during Tuesday’s Committee of the Whole meeting that city inspectors will assess the remains of the property.
Ward 2 Alderman Shawn Gregory urged the city to act quickly since the site and debris pose a danger to neighboring residents.
The resident accused of causing the explosion, 38-year-old Christopher Jackson, remains in the Sangamon County Jail.
