When you think about dangerous jobs, do factor in the potential of being murdered? There’s actually a study about this!
Sadly over 5,000 people died on the job back in 2018 – 453 of those were homicides. When Zippia broke down the BLS data they found that places that served food/bars were the most dangerous. Yeah, not law enforcement.
Now, law enforcement came in second followed by those who work in courts and correctional institutions. Retails was fourth.
Here’s the full list:
- Food services, drinking places, and restaurants
- Law enforcement workers
- Justice, public order, and safety activities (includes courts and correctional institutions)
- Retail sales workers
- Supervisors, sales workers
- First-line supervisors of retail sales workers
- Administrative and support services
- Cashiers
- Motor vehicle operators
- Gasoline stations
They also found the Saturday and Thursday were the days “You’re most likely to be murdered.” Sunday was the least likely – Because people are in church?
