The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their 2022 nominees yesterday . . . 17 total.
There are seven FIRST-TIME nominees . . . Carly Simon . . . Dolly Parton . . . Duran Duran . . . Beck . . . Lionel Richie . . . A Tribe Called Quest . . . and Eminem, who is also the only artist on the list in his first year of eligibility.
The other nominees are: Kate Bush . . . Devo . . . Judas Priest . . . MC5 . . . New York Dolls . . . Rage Against The Machine . . . Pat Benatar . . . Fela Kuti . . . Eurythmics . . . and Dionne Warwick.
To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1996 or earlier. First year eligible acts that didn’t make the cut include Fiona Apple, Matchbox Twenty, Slipknot, and Nickelback.
Voting for the FAN VOTE is currently open until April 29th on the Rock Hall’s website. The official Class of 2022 will be announced in May, with an induction ceremony sometime in the fall. The date and location haven’t been announced.
