This List of Each State’s Most Famous Movie Star Is a Little Whack

A career search website called Zippia.com posted a list of each state’s most famous movie star.

There are a few that are hard to debate, like James Dean from Indiana, and Mark Wahlberg from Massachusetts . . . although you could easily argue for Matt Damon or Ben Affleck.  I’d call that one maybe a three-way tie.

And despite how crowded the field must be in California, it’s hard to argue their pick of Leonardo DiCaprio.

But there are some entries on the list that are . . . as the kids like to say . . . whack.  (???)  Here are a few of the questionable choices:

1.  Arkansas.  They chose:  Wes Bentley.  They could have chosen:  Mary Steenburgen or Billy Bob Thornton.

2.  Connecticut.  They chose:  Justin Long.  They could have chosen:  Ernest BorgnineGlenn CloseBrian DennehyPaul GiamattiKatharine HepburnChristopher LloydRobert MitchumMeg Ryan, and several others.

3.  Louisiana:  They chose Jared Leto.  They could have chosen:  Reese WitherspoonTyler Perry, or Stormy Daniels.  (???)

4.  Maryland:  They chose:  Penn Badgley.  They could have chosen:  Julie Bowen or Jada Pinkett Smith.

5.  Missouri.  They chose:  Evan Peters from “American Horror Story”.  They could have chosen:  John GoodmanDon CheadleDick Van DykeJon HammDon Johnson, and frankly too many more to name.

6.  Utah.  They chose:  Patrick Fugit from “Almost Famous”.  They could have chosen:  Roseanne Barr or James Woods.

7.  Washington.  They chose:  Dove Cameron.  They could have chosen:  Jeffrey Dean Morgan or Kyle MacLachlan.

8.  West Virginia.  They chose:  Josh Stewart.  They could have chosen:  John CorbettBrad “The Voice of Chucky” Dourif or Chris Sarandon . . . who, coincidentally, was the cop in “Child’s Play”, opposite Brad Dourif.
